Portraits Exhibition SHE-and her many manic moods
This collection is a new body of work and very personal on many levels.
Firstly, it is a celebration of the divine feminine, the generative and regenerative power of nature, beauty and sensuality and the force and fortitude of the female.
This work is a celebration of the full gamut of emotions, which I have often repressed, in order to “appear” strong and invincible.
Grief, fury, fear, peace, ecstasy, love, joy are all valid and I’ve grown to be unafraid of expressing them.
“To know yourself as the being underneath the thinker, the stillness underneath the mental noise, the love and joy underneath the pain, is freedom, salvation and enlightenment.” Eckhart Tolle
Using my own portrait as a personification of Mother Earth, SHE is also an appeal on her behalf, to care for our home and humanity. The dominant painting is “Grief”, which is what I feel when observing the destruction of our planet and the inhumanity driven by the desire for power and profit. The Earth, or Gaia, is not afraid to express herself and frequently does so.
